  • Development of an Awareness Transformation Tool to Reconceptualize Rainwater as a Water Resource: The Extraordinary Experience of "Drinking Rain” Reviewed

    36   138 - 143   2022.12

     More details

At the UN Summit held in September 2015, the adopted Sustainable Development
Goals (SDGs) included clean water and sanitation. However, public awareness of the importance
of rainwater as a water resource is poor in Japan. To ameliorate this situation, "Amamizu
Drink," an awareness transformation tool, was used to help people engage in the extraordinary
experience of "drinking rainwater." A survey was conducted to investigate the tool’s impact on
raising people's awareness of rainwater. The survey results revealed that approximately 70% of
the subjects who drank the "Amamizu Drink" showed a tendency to change their attitudes,
especially young people in their 20s or younger. The results of this study could be a basis for
clarifying the factors necessary to further raise awareness of the importance of rainwater and
developing effective environmental education materials for a wider range of age groups.

We studied the possibility of tourism by green mobility and starry sky as a regional resource creating a new added value. As a result, we were able to propose concrete measures about potential for generation of "Regional Fukui Brands" that added new attraction and values in Fukui. Especially, we found a key to increase the numbers of tourist, foreign tourist and visitors, increase the length of tourist stays in the regional city. In the future, we want to have an effect on formulation the regional brand strategies in Fukui prefecture.

  • On the Influence of "Fukui Prefectural Children's Science Hall" on User Consciousness Reviewed

    ( 48 )   106 - 111   2018

     More details

In this research, focusing on the cosmos and starry sky as regional resources, we aim to explore the influence of "Fukui Science Museum for Children" on the surrounding areas. In order to grasp the possibilities as regional resources, we designed and analyzed questionnaires for facility users. The main results are as follows: 1) The percentage of answer "use again" was very high (94%). Furthermore, the percentage of users recognizing that the facility has a positive influence on the surrounding area was also high. 2) After using the facility, knowledge of the cosmos and starry sky has deepened. Therefore, the users become more interested in the cosmos and starry sky. 3) About 9036626521351f respondents do not recognize the cosmos and starry sky as regional resources of Fukui. In Fukui, despite the existence of "facilities related to the cosmos" and "areas enjoying starry sky", they are not recognized as a regional resource at present.
