複数の固有振動が不安定となる場合の弾性送水管の非線形空間運動を実験的に調べている。2次および3次の固有振動が不安定となる場合に、2次の自励振動が生じる面と3次の自励振動が生じる面が直交することを実験的に明らかにしている。

弾性送水管の非線形安定性に与える下端付加質量の影響を理論的および実験的に検討している。付加質量の大きさに依存して、2次モードあるいは3次モード成分が不安定となる。2次モードが不安定となる場合には超臨界の不安定現象、3次モードが不安定となる場合には亜臨界の不安定現象が発生する。
